Arsene Wenger has highlighted the method his Arsenal players need to adhere to if they are to get a result against Barcelona in the Champions League tomorrow night.
The Gunners have never knocked the Spanish side out of the Champions League, managing just one win in seven meetings between the two sides in Europe’s most notorious club competition.
The real threat for Arsenal will come from the spectacular trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez. Between them, they have managed to muster up 97 goals this season in all competitions. Barcelona are currently on an unbeaten streak of 32 games so it looks as if Arsenal’s chances of reaching the quarter finals are slim.
Despite the magnitude of the challenge the Gunners are up against, Wenger remains forever the optimist. Speaking to Sky Sports about the tie, he highlighted how he hopes his side will cope with the force of the La Liga leaders:
“I know that individually they have exceptional talent but the only we can do it is collectively; by being resilient, having a great solidarity and by being intelligent as well.”
Wenger has a fully fit defence to deal with the threat posed by Barcelona and the recent return of Francis Coquelin will add some steel in front of the back four.
Although Wenger has faith in his Arsenal side, Barcelona will be the overwhelming favourites to progress in this tie.
