Matt Smith posts nostalgic tweet ahead of Elland Road return, Leeds fans respond

Fulham Craven Cottage

The Fulham striker has taken to Twitter ahead of his return to Leeds.

Fulham forward Matt Smith took to Twitter on Monday afternoon with a nostalgic post ahead of his return to Leeds United.

Smith has faced Leeds already since being sold to Fulham by United but every reunion with the Yorkshire side is special for the 26-year-old.

He comes back alongside another ex-Leeds striker in Ross McCormack.

The reception from home fans towards both might be a little varied. McCormack remains unpopular at Elland Road but there is plenty of love for Smith.

And many Leeds supporters have, in fact, expressed their regret that Smith was ever allowed to leave Yorkshire for Fulham.

Several fans responded to the 26-year-old on Twitter, offering messages of warmth and also ruefulness.

Leeds need a goalscorer and, after selling Smith, they signed Chris Wood later down the line - a very similar type of player in that he is a target man. Right now, he is a target man who hasn't been fit for a few weeks...
