Leigh Griffiths makes his feelings about Patrick Roberts known

Patrick Roberts made his first appearance for Celtic over the weekend.

Speaking to the Daily Record, Leigh Griffiths has shared his thoughts of Patrick Roberts, the Manchester City loanee who made his first appearance for Celtic over the weekend.

Griffiths said: “He looked very, very dangerous when he came on. I have seen him in training and he is very direct and wants to get past people. You saw a little glimpse of what he can do and I am sure there is a lot more to come. I am just happy he got minutes on the pitch and he will be a big, big signing for us.”

Griffiths netted twice for Celtic in the 3-0 win over ICT, with Roberts making it onto the field of play inside the final 10 minutes.

He showed a few flashes of talent, but the youngster is still coming to terms with his move to Scotland, and with how the Bhoys play, and it is expected that Roberts will feature more as the weeks progress.

He is regarded as one of the most exciting talents in English football right now, and Ronny Deila did well to bring him to Parkhead during the January window.

He has shown what he can do, in his cameo role, as well as in various games for the development squad, and Roberts does look like an exciting player.

Griffiths - who will benefit in front of goal from Roberts’ attacking play - certainly sounds impressed by the young winger. Having seen him in games and in training, the striker is a big fan of Roberts’ direct nature, with a belief there is even more to come from him.

Celtic are on course to win the Premiership title once again, and Roberts could play a key role in pushing the club over the line in the final weeks of the season.
