After beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, Preston North End now sit tenth in the Championship table - and manager Simon Grayson is showing Leeds what they're missing.
Joe Garner's goal meant that Preston won for a sixth time in the last nine matches, leaving them just eight points outside the play-off places after a superb season.
North End won the League One play-off final against Swindon Town last season, and were expected to struggle against relegation due to their small budget in comparison to the rest of the division - but now 19 points clear of the drop, Preston appear to be safe, and are defying the odds under Grayson.
Grayson's win record stands at almost 48% at Preston, and he has made a mockery of Leeds' decision to sack him back in 2012.
A boyhood Leeds fan who started his playing career at Elland Road, Grayson masterminded Leeds' historic 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford back in 2010, and also led the club to promotion from League One just months later.
Bizarrely, despite having the club just three points off a play-off place in the 2011/12 season, Grayson was sacked by Leeds - and since his departure, Leeds have gone through a host of managers, including Neil Warnock, Brian McDermott, David Hockaday, Darko Milanic, Neil Redfearn, Uwe Rosler and now Steve Evans.
Grayson's success at Deepdale comes as Leeds struggle, eight points behind Preston despite having a much bigger budget than the Lilywhites - and fans took to Twitter after Preston's win over Sheffield Wednesday to rue the sacking of Grayson over four years ago.
Fans questioned how Grayson is doing so well at Preston despite the difference in budget, and slammed former chairman Ken Bates for sacking a manager who held Leeds so close to his heart.
Other supporters were pleading with Leeds to make a move to re-appoint Grayson as Evans' replacement this summer, suggesting that he is the man to take the club forward once again.
Here are some of the reactions from Leeds fans after Preston and Grayson moved up into tenth place in the Championship table...
Simon Grayson is doing wonders at Preston. Can't help but love the bloke! Would take him back at #lufc in a heartbeat.— The Mighty Leeds (@themightyleeds) February 21, 2016
Simon Grayson's Preston North End into the top 10 after beating Sheffield Wednesday today. Fancy that. #lufc— Craig Reeves (@vivareeves) February 20, 2016
Simon Grayson 10th with PNE who have a bottom-three budget. We're 16b with a loudmouth Scot who thinks our budget is top six... #lufc— I'd Radebe Leeds (@Radebe_Leeds) February 20, 2016
I've given Evans the benefit of the doubt. All mouth on sidelines and clueless. Botaka sub a joke. Meanwhile Grayson lies 10th 8pts off 6th— Rory O'Sullivan (@roryosullivan6) February 20, 2016
Just look at the job he's doing at Preston, up to 10th and just 8 points off playoffs. He knows what it takes to compete at this level #lufc— Adrian Sheehan (@asheehan180) February 20, 2016
Larry has taken PNE to 10th in the Championship. Someone give me a rational reason why he shouldn't be our manager... #lufc— Tommo (@LUFC1992) February 20, 2016
Did Leeds make a big mistake sacking Grayson?
