Jamie Sterry reacts on Twitter to successful Newcastle-La Manga trip

The 20-year-old was delighted with the Newcastle training camp on social media.

Newcastle United youngster Jamie Sterry took to Twitter to praise the club's training camp in La Manga on Sunday night.

Indeed, he says he had a great few days of training and was pleased to get some friendly-match game time.

Sterry also registered an assist for Newcastle and the experience will no doubt have benefited several of the club's youngsters in a similar position to him.

Sterry, of course, was the subject of praise from Newcastle's head coach during the La Manga trip.

Steve McClaren told reporters over the weekend: "This was a decent work out in difficult conditions but good to see the likes of Jamie Sterry and Liam Gibson doing well."

Considering Newcastle's plight, Sterry may not receive too much first-team action in the near future but he is certainly another youngster to consider in the long run.

Then again, so bad have some of the Magpies' performances been this season, McClaren could do with an energetic 20-year-old instead of one of his lethargic senior strugglers.

But you can trust McClaren not to make a big call like that...
