Harry Kane and Josh Onomah react to Tottenham's FA Cup elimination

Tottenham Hotspur are out of the FA Cup at the fifth round stage.

Tottenham Hotspur saw their hopes of a treble ended at the weekend when they lost 1-0 to Crystal Palace in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

Spurs are currently second in the Premier League and in the last-32 of the Europa League but Mauricio Pochettino’s side were unable to get one over the Eagles with Martin Kelly scoring the only goal of the game.

It could have been so different if Harry Kane had not seen Palace goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey brilliantly save two goal-bound efforts but despite having 65 per cent of the ball and 19 goal attempts Tottenham fell short.

After the match Kane took to Twitter to express his disappointment at the defeat – an unfamiliar feeling for this Spurs side after their superb run of form.

Writing on social media, the England international said, “Disappointing result today. Gutted to be out (of) the cup. Time to focus on Thursday night now. Big game for us.”

That match is the second leg of the Europa League last-32 match against Italian side Fiorentina, a tie currently level at 1-1.

Tottenham cannot afford to go on a losing run now and they will be desperate not to lose in front of their own fans twice in a week.

Young midfielder Josh Onomah, who played the full 90 minutes on Sunday, wrote simply, “Losing hurts.”
