Celtic fans on Twitter divided as James Forrest snubs new contract extension

James Forrest has reportedly snubbed a new deal with Celtic.

Celtic boss Ronny Deila has told the Glasgow Evening Times that winger James Forrest has rejected a new contract with the club.

Forrest, 24, has been on the books with Celtic since the age of 13, and has gradually made his way up through the ranks with the Bhoys.

Having made his debut in May 2010 aged 18, Forrest has now racked up over 180 appearances for Celtic, notching 30 goals and 27 assists in an injury-ravaged career.

The winger has picked up a host of knocks and niggles throughout his spell with Celtic, meaning he has played more than 20 league games in a season only once so far.

With his contract expiring later in 2016, Forrest can leave the Bhoys for free - and especially now he has snubbed a new contract, with Deila telling the Glasgow Evening Times that the wide man wants a new challenge elsewhere.

Ever since Deila's revelation, Celtic fans have been taking to Twitter to give their views - and it's clear that supporters are split.

Some supporters believe that Forrest is better than Stuart Armstrong and will be missed at Celtic, given that he provides real width, pace and dribbling ability - something that few others players offer.

Others think that Forrest won't be missed at Celtic Park as he hasn't kicked on and developed in recent years, and he's welcome to try his luck elsewhere as a result.
