Celtic boss Ronny Deila has told the Glasgow Evening Times that winger James Forrest has rejected a new contract with the club.
Forrest, 24, has been on the books with Celtic since the age of 13, and has gradually made his way up through the ranks with the Bhoys.
Having made his debut in May 2010 aged 18, Forrest has now racked up over 180 appearances for Celtic, notching 30 goals and 27 assists in an injury-ravaged career.
The winger has picked up a host of knocks and niggles throughout his spell with Celtic, meaning he has played more than 20 league games in a season only once so far.
With his contract expiring later in 2016, Forrest can leave the Bhoys for free - and especially now he has snubbed a new contract, with Deila telling the Glasgow Evening Times that the wide man wants a new challenge elsewhere.
Ever since Deila's revelation, Celtic fans have been taking to Twitter to give their views - and it's clear that supporters are split.
Some supporters believe that Forrest is better than Stuart Armstrong and will be missed at Celtic, given that he provides real width, pace and dribbling ability - something that few others players offer.
Others think that Forrest won't be missed at Celtic Park as he hasn't kicked on and developed in recent years, and he's welcome to try his luck elsewhere as a result.
Here are some of the reactions from Celtic fans after Forrest rejected a new contract with the club...
Will be gutted if Forrest goes, far better than Armstrong or mackay Steven on the wing, gets used as a scapegoat too often— Jack Reilly (@JackReilly16) February 22, 2016
Personally be delighted to see the back of Forrest amazed he was offered a new 4 year deal in the first place.— Roy (@Airthreycastle3) February 22, 2016
Anyone think Forrest leaving is a big loss ? Shame really cause years ago, he looked like he'd do well but it's inconsistent + injury prone— Steven 1888 (@1888steven) February 22, 2016
Actually glad Forrest is looking elsewhere, he doesn't have any interest in playing for celtic and hasn't been great for 2/3 seasons now— Celtic Update (@update_celtic) February 22, 2016
Hopefully Forrest is the first of about a dozen of that squad who will be allowed to leave this summer. Maybe more.— Kenton Schweppes (@CoachCrumbs) February 22, 2016
If James Forrest wants to leave, then a wish him all the best. Gave Celtic some good times and played in a few decent sides along the way.— Paul Byars (@byars_paul) February 22, 2016
Shame to see Forrest go. Great player, hampered by injury and then an incompetent manager who played Armstrong ahead of him :/— Raffaelo Bonaccorsi (@Raffaelopietro) February 22, 2016
When Lennon first came in and played Forrest I had high hopes for him, but he hasn't progressed. If he wishes to leave all the best to him.— Sinclair Grant (@sinkybiy_90) February 22, 2016
Wouldn't even have offered James Forrest a new deal. Can't cross, can't finish and can't even play half the time cause of his glass ankles— James Campbell (@underagemaddog) February 22, 2016
Cannot believe the fans hatred for James Forrest. He'll be a big loss and should be in that team any day of the week over GMS and Armstrong— Scott Killen (@ScottKillen88) February 22, 2016
Was always a big Forrest fan, but he's no really improved in the last few years and too injury prone, still better than GMS tho— Steven Kerr (@kerrzo89) February 22, 2016
What do you think about Forrest's potential departure from Celtic this summer?
