The 17-year-old Tottenham Hotspur midfielder is one to watch.
On February 25 2015 Tottenham Hotspur’s teenage striker Shayon Harrison scored a hat-trick for the club’s under-18s in a 4-1 victory against their Arsenal counterparts.
The feat was particularly impressive because it came against Spurs’ fierce rivals, suggesting that Tottenham’s next generation had the beating of those coming through the ranks at the Emirates Stadium.
So it is interesting that on 20 February 2016, just five days short of a year since Harrison’s hat-trick, another Tottenham teenager shone against the same opponents.
This time it was 17-year-old attacking midfielder Marcus Edwards who netted twice for Tottenham’s under-18s against Arsenal, helping them to a 4-0 victory.
Edwards is arguably the most exciting of all Tottenham’s players at this age-range and those who watch him regularly know he has all the hallmarks to ultimately take White Hart Lane by storm.
It will not happen any time soon, but just as Harrison’s impressive form at under-18 and under-21 level has got manager Mauricio Pochettino’s attention, so Edwards is heading the same way.
Tottenham have real quality in every age group fight now and it is going to be one hell of a journey for players and fans alike in the years ahead.
