West Ham United icon Frank Lampard Snr has told The Mirror that he loves how manager Slaven Bilic has organised his side this season.
The Hammers head into today's FA Cup Fifth Round clash with Blackburn Rovers with a real chance of winning the competition and claiming some major silverware in their final year at Upton Park.
Manager Bilic has enjoyed a superb first season in charge of the club he played for during the 1990's, as the Croatian has his side sitting in seventh place, just one point behind fifth placed Manchester United as they chase European qualification.
One man who knows Bilic well is Hammers legend Frank Lampard Snr, who served as Harry Redknapp's assistant at West Ham during Bilic's playing days with the club.
Lampard, who racked up well over 500 appearances for West Ham during almost 20 years with the club, has now had his say on how Bilic has fared this season, telling The Mirror that he loves how organised West Ham are under his stewardship.
Lampard also praised NINE current West Ham stars, including new signing Sam Byram, who has impressed since signing from Leeds United in January.
Aaron Cresswell, James Collins, James Tomkins, Winston Reid, Angelo Ogbonna, Mark Noble, Cheikhou Kouyate and superstar Dimitri Payet also received works of praise from Lampard, and deservedly so after so many impressive performances this season.
"Aaron Cresswell rarely has a bad game and I have been impressed by the new young full-back Sam Byram," said Lampard. "In the middle they have the likes of James Collins, Angelo Ogbonna, Winston Reid and James Tomkins. A lot of options."
"And Mark Noble has been outstanding. He steadies the ship in midfield and Cheikhou Kouyate has been a great signing. But it is the way they are organised at the back that has impressed me. It used to be the case for many years that West Ham would need to score four because they had let in three! Not now. Slaven has them so well organised. And all over the team, they have pace – and players who can use that pace."
"Dimitri Payet has been outstanding as have the attacking players around him. There is a good shape to the squad. They have one or two players who can get into the box," he added.
How happy are you with West Ham's season so far?
