The Watford skipper thanked both his own fans and Leeds supporters after Saturday's win.

Watford striker and captain Troy Deeney has thanked both his own fans and the Leeds United supporters who traveled to Vicarage Road on Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets beat United 1-0 in the fifth round of the FA Cup, progressing to the quarter-finals of the knockout tournament thanks to Scott Wootton's own goal.

Deeney admitted he was 'preoccupied' after the game (he earlier revealed that his daughter is unwell) - but took to Twitter on Sunday afternoon thanking both Watford and Leeds supporters.

Indeed, he feels both sets of fans were 'excellent.'

Watford's Mario Suarez also took to social media, declaring his happiness that Championship side Leeds were defeated, avoiding a potential banana skin for the Hornets.

Reading had beaten West Brom on Saturday, while Hull City held Arsenal to a 0-0 draw. But there was no upset at Vicarage Road, while Everton also stuck to the formbooks, beating Bournemouth 2-0 at the Vitality Stadium.
