Sheffield Wednesday fans react on Twitter to Lucas Joao's performance against Preston

Sheffield Wednesday were beaten 1-0 by Preston North End yesterday.

Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been left disappointed by Lucas Joao’s recent performances.

Joao made a blistering start to the campaign, and earned two senior Portugal caps back in 2015 after catching the eye of his national team.

However, more recently the powerful forward has struggled to hit the back of the net, and his showing against Preston North End yesterday was poor.

The 22-year-old came on for the last 20 minute against Preston, but could not help Carlos Carvalhal’s side pick up the three points.

After Joe Garner put Preston in the lead, Wednesday pushed for an equaliser, but Joao missed their best chance late on.

Wednesday’s defeat has seen them slip down to sixth in the Championship table, and Joao has taken the brunt of frustrations on social media.

Some Owls fans have accused the striker of not putting enough effort in, while others feel he is simply not good enough. Here is the best reaction on Twitter.

Joao has scored eight goals in 35 appearances for Wednesday so far this campaign.

The Owls' next fixture comes against an out of form Queens Park Rangers side at Hillsborough.
