Derby County beat Brentford 3-1 at Griffin Park this weekend.
Barker, who recently left Derby after a troubled time with injury, clearly still keeps a keen eye out for his former club’s results.
And he was delighted with Christie’s impact, as the ex-Coventry City defender popped up late on to seal a crucial three points for Darren Wassall’s side at Griffin Park.
Derby had gone behind against Brentford and at that point their poor form looked set to continue.
However, the Rams showed their character to battle back and equalised in the 80th minute through Jeff Hendrick.
That strike seemed to spark Derby into life, with Christie hitting their second four minutes later, before Chris Martin completed the triumph in added time.
The victory was Derby’s first in eight matches, and it has lifted the Midlands side up into fifth place in the Championship table with under three months of the season remaining.
