Pundit Rodney Marsh has taken to Twitter to state that he thinks Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan should be targeted by Newcastle United or West Bromwich Albion.
Guzan, 31, had been Villa's first choice goalkeeper for the previous three seasons, but some poor displays this season means that he has lost his place in goal to Mark Bunn.
The United States international's struggles at Villa Park have prompted suggestions that he could make a return to Major League Soccer this summer, having starred with Chivas USA before his 2008 move to Villa Park.
Heading back to the States at 31 may be seemed as too soon by many, and pundit Rodney Marsh believes that to be the case, as he took to Twitter to discuss Guzan's future.
Marsh suggested that Guzan still has one season at the top left in him before making a return to MLS, prompting questions from fans about who in the Premier League would buy Guzan, considering his poor season at Villa Park this term.
Marsh believes that Newcastle United or West Bromwich Albion should move for Guzan, though whether either club really need him is another matter.
>Think Guzan has one more top club before coming back to MLS....Tim is better analyst these days... https://t.co/qdEUbN9xOV— Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) February 20, 2016
Newcastle may have seen Tim Krul ruled out for the season through injury and Karl Darlow struggle in his debut Premier League season, but Rob Elliot has emerged as a legitimate Premier League goalkeeper, so adding Guzan wouldn't really solve anything in that area.
Meanwhile, West Brom seem to have a surplus of goalkeepers, as Boaz Myhill offers great backup to England international Ben Foster, whilst Anders Lindegaard has signed for Preston North End on loan until the end of the season having struggled for first-team football at The Hawthorns - and again, adding Guzan may actually create more of a problem than he would solve one.
Should Newcastle or West Brom move for Brad Guzan this summer?
