Report: Huddersfield's David Wagner wants Joao Teixeira, Liverpool concerned about contract situation

Huddersfield Town are reportedly targeting a deal for Liverpool's Joao Teixeira.

According to The Sun, Huddersfield Town are hoping to land Liverpool playmaker Joao Teixeira on loan, thanks to the relationship between the two managers.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner left Borussia Dortmund to take charge of the Terriers back in November, and instantly earned some comparisons to Jurgen Klopp.

The duo not only worked together at Dortmund, with Wagner serving as the clubs Under-23 coach, but Wagner's friendship with Klopp extended to him being the Liverpool manager's best man at his wedding.

Many have thought that Klopp would send some of Liverpool's young talent on loan to Huddersfield, but that so far hasn't been the case.

Now though, The Sun report that Wagner is hoping that Klopp will allow him to sign playmaker Joao Teixeira on loan until the end of the season.

Teixeira, 23, has struggled for first-team football at Anfield since signing from Sporting Lisbon in 2012, and a move to join Huddersfield could see him thrive in the Championship, just as he did on loan at Brighton last season.

However, it's also suggested that Liverpool have concerns about Teixeira's contract situation, given that his current deal at Anfield expires this summer - and Klopp allegedly wants to extend Teixeira's contract before letting him leave on loan, making sure that the Portuguese youngster ties his future to the club for the long-term.

Would you let Teixeira sign for Huddersfield on loan?
