The Newcastle winger was in great form in Spain.

Newcastle United are currently enjoying a little break in La Manga. They are out of the FA Cup and were due to face Manchester City next weekend, but they are in League Cup action.

So the warm weather training camp was a good option for the players to build some morale and put in some work ahead of the game with Stoke City at the start of March.

Today they took on Norwegian side Lillestrom in a friendly to keep up their match sharpness.

One man who took the opportunity to shine was Rolando Aarons.

Times have been tough for the player recently. He burst onto the scene last season but then suffered with a string of injury concerns. Then, upon his return, he was asked to play at left-back by Steve McClaren.

He struggled in the role, getting the run-a-round against Chelsea most recently.

Today he came on in an attacking role, where he belongs, and shone. He had Lillestrom defenders scrambling and he also scored the winner.

He looped in a fantastic header from a Jamie Sterry cross to give Newcastle the win in the fixture and to boost his own morale, as well as his profile with his manager.

Here is how Newcastle United fans reacted to Aarons' excellent performance...
