The Aston Villa defender has responded to the pundit's recent criticism.
Indeed, the 33-year-old says it's 'frustrating' when people like Collymore comment.
And he claims the pundit would direct message him asking for England team news before it was out.
Lescott is quoted as telling the Times by the Birmingham Mail: "That was frustrating when people who have been in the industry like Stan Collymore comment.
"I don't know him personally but we are both from Birmingham and we have respect for each other. He used to direct message me and ask me for the England line-up before it was out.
"That's not my style, I wouldn't do it anyway but, no disrespect, I don't know you."
Clearly, Lescott's claim about Collymore's requests is designed to potentially embarrass the pundit.
All reporters will try and get early team news from somewhere but Lescott's suggestions that Collymore would direct message him on Twitter might be an attempt to put his methods down - as well as suggesting he would not oblige and give out any information.
Collymore will likely respond to the Aston Villa defender's claims, either denying them, defending them or simply aiming more criticism at Lescott. It's interesting to gauge just how Lescott's interview has been received by Villa fans. Is he simply digging a bigger hole for himself?
