Dietmar Hamann has said on Twitter that he disagrees with Manuel Pellegrini's team selection for the FA Cup clash between Manchester City and Chelsea.
With City scheduled to face Dynamo Kiev in the Champions League on Wednesday, Pellegrini has handed first-team debuts to as many as five players with several star names not making the squad.
Aleix Garcia, Manu Garcia, David Faupala, Bersant Eduar Celina and Tosin Adarabioyo have all been drafted into the starting lineup, but former City midfielder Hamann has tweeted that he is disappointed with Pellegrini's decision.
Don't agree at all with Pellegrinis team selection. As if playing the game yesterday would have made such a difference.— Didi Hamann (@DietmarHamann) February 21, 2016
Pellegrini had questioned why the fixture could not have been played on Saturday given their impending trip to Ukraine and with Chelsea's last outing coming against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night.
Television coverage dictated the weekend's schedule, with Arsenal being selected for the early kick-off on Saturday due to their clash with Barcelona on Tuesday night.
While Hamann does not agree with Pellegrini's selection, the Chilean had openly stated that he would prioritise the Champions League given the club's failure to reach the last-eight of a European competition since 2009.
