Bournemouth were beaten 2-0 by Everton at Dean Court yesterday.

Bournemouth supporters have praised Sylvain Distin’s performance against Everton in the FA Cup yesterday.

Although the Cherries were beaten 2-0 by Roberto Martinez’s side yesterday, Distin impressed in the contest.

The experienced defender managed to deal with Everton’s attacking threat well and many of Bournemouth’s supporters have suggested that he should be starting more regularly for them in the weeks ahead.

Distin actually moved from Everton to Bournemouth last summer, with Martinez deciding that his time was up at Goodison Park.

The experienced defender is now 37, but he certainly seemed to be able to cope with the demands of top tier football on Saturday evening as he handled Romelu Lukaku well.

The Belgian striker did score Everton’s second from a corner, after Ross Barkley had put the Merseyside club in front, but from open play he was largely kept quiet.

Bournemouth supporters have now suggested that Distin should be played more often by Eddie Howe. Here is the best reaction to his performance on social media site Twitter.

Another former Everton player, Dan Gosling, was also included in Bournemouth’s starting line-up yesterday, but the midfielder was not as impressive.
