Former Tottenham Hotspur winger Matthew Etherington spoke highly of Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew on BBC Radio 5 live Sport on Friday evening (February 19, broadcast from 7pm).
Etherington worked with Pardew at West Ham United and considers him a very good man-manager.
“He is one of the best managers I have worked under,” said the former Stoke City winger about Pardew. “I thoroughly enjoyed my time under him at West Ham. He is a very good man-manager first and foremost. He makes you want to play for him.”
Pardew has been in charge of Palace since the middle of last season and has done a good job at Selhurst Park so far.
Recent results and performances, though, have been disappointing, and Pardew will have to address that.
The London outfit are 13th in the Premier League table at the moment with 32 points from 26 matches.
Palace are just eight points above the bottom three, and there is a small danger that they could be dragged into the relegation mix.
Pardew’s side will return to action on Sunday afternoon when they take on Tottenham Hotspur away from home at White Hart Lane in the fifth round of the FA Cup.
