Barry Bannan and Jack Hunt react on Twitter after Sheffield Wednesday's defeat

Sheffield Wednesday lost 1-0 away at Preston North End on Saturday afternoon.

Sheffield Wednesday's automatic promotion hopes took a blow on Saturday afternoon, as they lost 1-0 away at Preston North End.

The Owls went into the game having taken 14 points from the previous six games, with Carlos Carvalhal's men really gathering momentum.

Backed by over 5,000 fans at Deepdale, Wednesday went into the match full of confidence, but came unstuck against an in-form Preston side.

Wednesday star Fernando Forestieri saw red in the second half having been booked for a dive and then for intentional handball, leaving the Owls to play the final 25 minutes with only ten men.

North End didn't lake to long to make that advantage count, as Joe Garner swooped with a back post header to win the game for Preston, taking them up to tenth in the Championship table.

It was a disappointing afternoon for Wednesday, who failed to send their huge travelling support back to Sheffield with something to shout about.

After the final whistle, Wednesday stars Jack Hunt and Barry Bannan both took to Twitter in order to apologise to fans for the defeat, whilst praising their superb support at Deepdale.

Here are the reactions from right back Hunt and playmaker Bannan after the defeat to Preston on Saturday...
