Alan Pardew makes a surprise claim about Adebayor's performance v Spurs

Emmanuel Adebayor

The Crystal Palace boss was discussing the former Tottenham striker.

Alan Pardew made the surprise claim that Emmanuel Adebayor was 'terrific' against former side Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday afternoon.

Crystal Palace fans seemed pleased with the 31-year-old's work rate but praising his overall display seemed a stretch considering the fact the away supporters themselves chanted 'that's why you're paying his wages' when he missed.

The former Tottenham man didn't play badly as such but Pardew's heavy praise of the Togolese striker will still come as a surprise to many.

The need for the Crystal Palace boss to praise Adebayor is obvious, however, considering the fact forward is very much a confidence player.

Palace have been drawn away at Reading in the FA Cup quarter-finals - and Spurs may be kicking themselves to miss out on such a draw.

However, Reading dispatched West Brom convincingly in the fifth round and Crystal Palace will have to be ready to work as hard as they did against Tottenham.
