The Gunners are currently joint second in the table alongside Tottenham Hotspur, with both trailing leaders Leicester City by two points.
Last weekend saw them give their title hopes a huge boost though, as they beat the Foxes 2-1 courtesy of a last gasp header from returning striker Danny Welbeck.
And when asked if Arsenal are favourites to win it at this stage of the season, Wilshere says he believes they are after that big win over Claudio Ranieri’s side.
“I think Sunday was massive for us (defeating Leicester),” he told Fletch and Sav.
“Eight points down would have been a long way back. People are saying are Leicester going to do it, go the whole way? But they beat Manchester City, then came here and gave us a really good game, so we have to take them seriously,”
“I still think in my head we are favourites but with that comes pressure. So whether we feel that or not is the question.”
If Arsenal are favourites for the title this season, the upcoming game against rivals Tottenham could be the one that confirms it.
The two sides clash at the beginning or March at White Hart Lane, and with both currently chasing Leicester at the top.
The winner of that tie would surely push either side to chasing down the title, and it likely to play a huge part in who wins it comes the end of the campaign.
