Former Queens Park Rangers and Manchester City forward Rodney Marsh has predicted on social networking site Twitter that Sunderland will get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.
Marsh is impressed with the way Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has changed the attitude of the team, but he is yet to be convinced that there is enough in the team to avoid the drop to the Championship.
Not yet. Big Sam definitely changed the team & attitude, will still be desperately close..... https://t.co/T3MfN6UC0y— Rodney Marsh (@RodneyMarsh10) February 19, 2016
@RodneyMarsh10 Hi rod u said my team Sunderland would go down but now we have khazri & Kone...change your mind ?— Steeds Bowler Hat (@HatSteeds) February 19, 2016
Sunderland are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 23 points from 26 matches.
The Black Cats are just a point behind 17th-placed Norwich City and certainly have the chance to retain their top-flight status for next season.
Allardyce is an expert at keeping teams up in the Premier League, and Sunderland fans should be confident of the Englishman doing the same this season.
It will take some hard work, of course, but with the likes of Newcastle United, Norwich, Swansea City and Bournemouth all in the mix, the Black Cats’ chances of survival are quite strong.
