Nigel Pearson’s unambiguous verdict on Leicester’s title chances

Leicester City - King Power Stadium

Leicester City, Arsenal and Manchester City are aiming to win the Premier League title this season.

Nigel Pearson has told The Times that Leicester City will win the Premier League title this season.

Leicester are at the top of the league table at the moment with 53 points from 26 matches.

The Foxes are two points clear of Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal, who are second and third respectively in the standings.

Manchester City are six points behind Leicester in fourth and are also in the running for the league title.

Former Leicester manager Pearson is confident that Claudio Ranieri’s side will claim the championship this season.

“They’ll win it,” the Englishman told The Times about Leicester’s title chances. “I think they’ll win the Premier League.”

When asked why, Pearson said: “Because they won’t be distracted by the hype. A lot of people in the game haven’t really sussed what Leicester are about.

“They’ve got some really good players — Jamie Vardy’s form has been unbelievable — but collectively they’re a bloody strong group. They’re extremely resilient.

“They coped with the pressure exceptionally well last year and they’re doing the same this year. They won’t be interested in what anyone else says.

“They’re concentrating on themselves, playing to their strengths and their identity, whereas, to me, a lot of other sides have lost their way. Leicester have got no fear. Good luck to them.”

Leicester are certainly one of the top favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

It will not be easy, though, as the players do not have the experience of dealing with this situation, like those at Manchester City have.

However, the way Ranieri’s team have played so far this season suggests that they can go all the way.

Leicester will return to action on February 27 when they take on relegation candidates Norwich City at the King Power Stadium in the Premier League.
