The Tottenham and Hull City midfielders congratulated the north London club's captain for the night on Thursday.
Indeed, the 24-year-old was Tottenham's skipper against Fiorentina in the Europa League. And he didn't do a bad job of leading his side, who earned a 1-1 draw away from home.
Naturally, the north London outfit would have wanted to continue their winning run (they had won seven in a row in the Premier League and FA Cup heading into the Fiorentina game).
But an away goal is an away goal and heading back to White Hart Lane with a draw is certainly a positive in Europe.
Very proud moment and an honour to captain the side tonight! An important away goal going into the game at the Lane next week! #COYS— Ryan Mason (@RyanMason) February 18, 2016
And former team-mate Jake Livermore, now at Hull City, also sent Mason a positive message on Twitter.
Tottenham's battle on three fronts continues on Sunday afternoon, when they host Crystal Palace in the FA Cup.
