Paul Merson has warned Tottenham cannot afford to drop out of all the cup competitions at once.
Paul Merson may have told SkySports he currently regards Tottenham as favourites for the title, but he has also warned their season could quickly slip away from them.
Tottenham drew 1-1 with Fiorentina last night, setting up a second leg decider, and face Crystal Palace at the weekend in the FA Cup.
While battling on all fronts could be a distraction from their league fight, Merson believes a double elimination could have a negative mental affect.
He said: "Spurs do need to be careful. They need to draw a line somewhere if they want to win the Premier League.
"You can't lose to Fiorentina, lose to Crystal Palace and then lose two league games - your season could be over in a blink of an eye. I've seen it happen to Arsenal. They go out of everything in February, usually in the space of a two week period."
Pochettino's side have so far shown a resilience this season which would suggest this won't be the case, but they should also remember how last season they lost to Fiorentina and then suffered Capital One Cup Final defeat to Chelsea days later.
Merson believes Tottenham will beat Crystal Palace 3-1 this weekend, overcoming former striker Emmanuel Adebayor who is eligible to play in the fixture.
