Ian Holloway claims Lloyd Dyer could guarantee automatic promotion for Burnley

Ian Holloway believes Burnley could have sealed promotion with the signing of Lloyd Dyer.

Pundit Ian Holloway has told Sky Sports that he thinks Burnley could have guaranteed promotion after signing winger Lloyd Dyer on a free transfer.

The Clarets currently sit fourth in the Championship table, just two points off second placed Middlesbrough and four points behind league leaders Hull City.

It's been a strong response to being relegated from the Premier League last season, as manager Sean Dyche continues to impress as one of the Championship's finest managers.

Burnley strengthened in January by signing goalkeeper Paul Robinson and Brentford defender James Tarkowski, but also added a new face earlier this week, as winger Lloyd Dyer arrived at Turf Moor.

The experienced winger, 33, had been released by Watford in January, but hasn't been without a club for long as Burnley snapped him up on a free transfer.

With great pace and a fantastic work rate, Dyer should fit in well under Dyche, and his arrival gives Burnley another option in the final third.

Now, pundit Ian Holloway - who predicts that Burnley will beat Rotherham United 1-0 on Saturday - has told Sky Sports that he believes the signing of Dyer is so good, that it could even guarantee automatic promotion for the Clarets this season.

"Lloyd Dyer is a fantastic signing for Burnley," said Holloway. "He might even guarantee them promotion. He is so enthusiastic, so quick and works so hard. I have always liked him and he's a typical Burnley player who will work his socks off, do what the team needs and never give up. That's what I like about Burnley, they never give up."
