Former Premier League player Danny Higginbotham believes Tottenham Hotspur's young players will not move on

Tottenham Hotspur Stands

Spurs have often lost top talents over the years.

Tottenham Hotspur are gaining plenty of fans this season as they look to win the Premier League title for the first time.

Mauricio Pochettino has an impressive young team at his disposal who are still playing in three competitions this season.

In the past however fear has often followed such form at White Hart Lane.

Spurs often lose their star players. The likes of Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Carrick, Luka Modric and Gareth Bale are prime examples.

But speaking to Sky Sports News this week (19/02/2016) former Stoke and Southampton player Danny Higginbotham had this to say about the club:

"There has been a fear in recent years, of Tottenham losing their best players to other Premier League teams.

"But I think that is starting to subside now. Because I think a lot of the younger players coming through at Tottenham right now are probably realising they can actually get what they want out of football by staying at Tottenham.

"It is such a young squad, the squad is only going to get better year after year as they gain more experience."

There is no doubt that in the past Spurs would have been fretting over the future of their star talents. The likes of Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris would be the most feared potential departees but that is not the current feeling around the club.

It now looks increasingly likely that the players at Spurs will be happy to remain at the club as they seem to be general contenders in the Premier League under Pochettino.
