Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Edinson Cavani, after his father admitted he would be interested in a switch.
Here is a look at three issues regarding a switch which would need answering...
Is a move dependent on Champions League football?
Manchester United look destined to miss out on Champions League football next season, and this could count against the Red Devils if either Real Madrid or Juventus step up their interest. Cavani is 29 and may not want to waste a key year out of Europe's elite competition, although United could make this up to him financially.
Will Zlatan's departure keep him at PSG?
The main reason Cavani is claimed to be unhappy at Paris Saint-Germain is due to the fact he is repeatedly played out wide to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic in a central role. Yet with SkySports reporting the Swede is open to leaving Paris for the Premier League, Cavani could stay, and Zlatan may even end up at Manchester United instead.
Would he be another Falcao?
The last South American striker to join United was Falcao and he was not successful, and United are at risk of making another expensive mistake over Cavani. Robin van Persie was the same age as Cavani was when they signed him, and they got just one good season out of the Dutchman. He would be an expensive mistake if it did not work out.
Cavani unhappy at PSG, not playing enough, dad wants him to move. Get it done, Ed. #mufc— Jasper Dunning (@Jasper_Dunning) February 18, 2016
Id rather #mufc get Cavani than Zlatan, we don't need a striker who's towards the end of his career— Jas Grewal (@JazzyJ_91) February 18, 2016
