On-loan midfielder Nick Powell has told Hull City's official Youtube channel that he forgot to watch Manchester United's defeat in the Europa League because he was playing FIFA 16.
United have allowed Powell to link up with Hull on a loan deal as the 21-year-old looks for regular football between now and the end of the season.
Since moving to Old Trafford in 2012, Powell has made just 10 appearances in all competitions and his latest revelation may not be positively received by the powers that be at the North-West giants.
While not under any instruction to watch his parent club against FC Midtjylland, Powell has openly admitted that he was too engrossed in a match on the computer game to remember that Louis van Gaal's men were competing in Denmark.
Powell said: "I completely forgot - I was playing Fifa if I was being honest. I did read the reports but it's hard.
"They are under pressure - the gaffer has said that it is the best way to qualify for the Champions League next year - but they have had so many injuries with Wazza getting injured and David De Gea getting injured before the game.
"There is no excuse - they should have won - but that is just the way it is."
Hull manager Steve Bruce has said that Powell will make his debut for the Tigers in the FA Cup clash at Arsenal on Saturday afternoon.
Powell has completed just 37 minutes of senior football this season, which came in substitute appearances for United against Wolfsburg and Bournemouth in December.
