Interim Chelsea boss Guus Hiddink says that captain John Terry won't feature in the FA Cup tie against Manchester City.

Chelsea interim boss Guus Hiddink has said in his pre-match press conference, reported by Chelsea TV, that John Terry will not feature in the FA Cup tie against Manchester City.

Last weekend, Terry was substituted during the first half of the 5-1 victory over Newcastle United with a hamstring complaint, and the injury was enough to keep the Blues skipper out of the Champions League encounter against Paris Saint-Germain.

Both Chelsea and Terry had hoped that he would recover in time for the fifth-round clash against their Premier League rivals, but Hiddink has suggested that the centre-back requires another week in the treatment room.

Hiddink said: "He will not be fit for this weekend. I saw him this morning. He was with the physios yesterday trying a bit on the pitch, (but) still too many problems to be fit for the weekend.

"I hope next weekend he will be available. I cannot predict it. I think we have to be a bit cautious with him as well."

The injury has come as a blow to Terry, who is looking to impress the club's board and any potential new manager at Stamford Bridge after it was revealed that he would not be offered a new contract.

As it stands, the Chelsea stalwart will leave West London in the summer, but a strong end to the campaign could still be enough to sway the decision-makers at the club.
