Former Tottenham Hotspur attacker David Ginola said on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (February 19) that Michy Batshuayi is a very good player.
However, the former Newcastle United star suggested that the Marseille striker is struggling at the moment due to pressure on him.
“He is a very good player, but he has been struggling in the recent month because the team is not performing well,” said Ginola about Batshuayi. “Upfront he is a centre-forward, and the team is relying too much on him.”
Batshuayi has been on the books of Marseille since 2014 and has a contract until June 2020.
The Belgium international is considered as one of the best young strikers in France, although he has not been at his best so far this season.
The 22-year-old has scored 12 goals and created 20 chances in 25 Ligue 1 appearances for Marseille so far this campaign.
Batshuayi has a pass accuracy of 76% and a shot accuracy of 59%, and has won 23 headers, 25 dribbles and eight tackles.
As many as three Premier League clubs have been linked with the former Standard Liege striker.
According to a recent report in The Mirror, London duo Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United want to sign the youngster in the summer transfer window.
Newcastle United are also claimed to be interested in Batshuayi, according to the British newspaper.
