Celtic are stockpiling midfielders ahead of the summer transfer window.
Celtic have signed another midfielder for next season, completing the deal to bring 17-year-old Kristoffer Ajer to Parkhead in the summer.
A ball-winning midfielder, he usually takes up a deep role in the middle of the park, and Ajer’s arrival takes the number of midfield players in the Celtic squad up to 17 - including players returning to Parkhead from loan spells at the end of this campaign.
This is too many midfielders, and it is expected that Ronny Deila will look to offload some of his lesser used options in the summer.
However, it could be that some of the key players are actually on their way out of Celtic in a few months, with one player in particular said to be exiting the club.
A few months ago, the agent of Israeli midfielder Nir Bitton told Sport 5 that he would be leaving the Bhoys in the summer transfer window. A £10 million fee was reported, and the agent confirmed that there has been interest in Bitton from the Premier League.
Losing Bitton would be a big blow to Deila, as the midfielder is a key figure who has played 98 times for the club.
However, he is in demand, and Celtic bringing in another midfielder to their already bloated squad suggests that they are preparing to lose the Israeli international this summer.
