Alex McLeish has big praise for West Ham owners, backs them for the FA Cup

The Scot worked under the pair and Karren Brady at Birmingham City.

West Ham United take on Blackburn Rovers in the FA Cup this weekend and Slaven Bilic's side are now being tipped as many people's outside bet to pick up the trophy at the end of the season.

The Hammers have had a fantastic season in the league and if they can continue that form in the cup then they may very well be in line for a trophy winning campaign.

One man who is backing them to do so is former Rangers and Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish. The Scot worked with the current West Ham ownership team during his time at Birmingham City and believes with their backing the sky is the limit for The Hammers.

He told Sky Sports News earlier today:

"They have great owners, I worked with the owners. They are very ambitious. They believe that any team they are in charge of, why can't they win a competition.

"I'm sure it would give David Sullivan, David Gold and Karren Brady complete delight if they could pull off this cup victory.

"I certainly believe they have it in them to do it. They have the quality. If they can keep the players fit, the Payets of this world. Also, if they can get Andy Carroll back to some regular momentum than why not. The Hammers for the cup."

The West Ham owners have certainly put a lot into the club and the appointment of Bilic in the summer has turned out to be a shrewd move - as the Croatian has the club believing they can win every game they go into.

If they can overcome this tricky tie against Blackburn Rovers at the weekend than West Ham will certainly look well on course for a potential cup win.
