Struggling online media group Yahoo has announced plans to cut seven of its digital magazines.
The company said the move is part of recently announced plans to "simplify our business and focus our effort on our four most successful content areas – news, sports, finance and lifestyle".
The magazines being phased out are Yahoo Food, Yahoo Health, Yahoo Parenting, Yahoo Makers, Yahoo Travel, Yahoo Autos and Yahoo Real Estate.
A spokesperson for the company told City A.M. that the job cuts made as part of the closures would fall withing previously announced workforce reduction plans. Earlier this month, Yahoo revealed that it will axe 15 per cent of its workforce, roughly 1,600 jobs, as part of an "aggressive strategic plan" to help transform the group.
Yahoo announced the job losses after reporting a $4.3bn (£3bn) loss for the year.
"We're announcing a strategic plan that we strongly believe will enable us to accelerate Yahoo's transformation," chief executive Marissa Mayer said at the time.
"This is a strong plan calling for bold shifts in products and in resources."
