Who is Regan Poole? Five facts about Manchester United's 17-year-old Welsh talent

The former Newport County man is in the Europa League squad.

Manchester United have included plenty of young talent in their squad for the upcoming Europa League fixture with FC Midtjylland.

The likes of Donald Love, James Weir, Will Keane, Joe Riley and Regan Poole have all been included in the squad.

So what can we tell you about the latter?

Here are five facts on Regan Poole...

1) Poole started his football education at hometown club Cardiff City but never made the grade in the Welsh capital.

2) He made his debut for Newport County at the age of 16, making him the club's youngest ever first-team player.

3) The talented central defender has international recognition. He has played six times for the Welsh under-17 side.

4) It could have been so different for Poole. Just a few months prior to signing for Manchester United he was on a one-week trial deal at the club's big domestic rivals Liverpool.

5) Oddly the player had to wait five months after signing for United for this opportunity. He had not yet been formalised his international clearance to move from Wales to England as FIFA rules dictate this is needed - even if crossing UK borders.
