Head coach Mauricio Pochettino explained that Lloris suffered a shoulder injury in the impressive 2-1 win over Manchester City, and ESPN report the goalkeeper could also miss the weekend's FA Cup fixture against an Emmanuel Adebayor led Crystal Palace.
Michel Vorm will step in during his absence, but it is fair to assume the Dutchman would have featured at least in the FA Cup clash as he did in the previous round, and even potentially the clash with Fiorentina.
After a hiccup in the FA Cup against Leicester last season, Vorm has been a dependable figure in goal, and the reaction to him having to step in has not generally been one of worry.
Before signing for Tottenham from Swansea City, Vorm was a regular in the Premier League and was one of the division's best goalkeepers and earned a call up to the Dutch national side, which led to many being confused over his choice to sign with Spurs, where he would be Lloris' number two.
Whether it was a failed gamble that the Frenchman would move on is unclear, but what he has to do is to make sure he does not let the side down now, and this could be one of the biggest games of his career.
Here is a look at how Tottenham fans have reacted on Twitter to the news of Lloris' injury...
Hugo out. Vorm did a fine job last time he started. It'll be fine #COYS— Jacqui Martin (@jackolinemartin) February 17, 2016
Tomorrow is gonna a bit tough without Hugo Lloris #COYS but all hopes on Michel Vorm !— Ekpenyong Samuel (@s_ekpenyong11) February 17, 2016
A bit of a break for Hugo will be good. Vorm was good in his last appearance and would have most likely started those games anyway #COYS— Spurred On (@spurredontv) February 17, 2016
