Leeds United take on Watford in the FA Cup this weekend.
Leeds United manager Steve Evans has been speaking to the club’s official website ahead of his side’s FA Cup fifth round clash with Watford on Saturday.
The Whites have had an up-and-down Championship campaign and currently find themselves 16th in the table, but victories against Rotherham United and Bolton Wanderers have taken them to within one win of the FA Cup quarter-finals.
Evans will be desperate to get one over top-flight opposition and Leeds certainly have the players capable of causing an upset this weekend, but it looks like they will have to do it without summer signing Chris Wood.
Speaking to leedsunited.com this week, Evans said, “I’m not so sure Chris Wood will be ready. We have to make sure with him.
“I would say it’s bordering on probably not (in terms of playing against Watford.”
The Leeds boss did however have better news when it comes to right-back Gaetano Berardi, who has missed the last 13 matches in all competitions.
“With Berardi we’ll have a look at him in full training today. He’s trained really well all week so we’ll have a look at him.”
Scott Wootton has been playing in Berardi’s absence while youngster Lewie Coyle has also made four appearances to date, starting – and impressing – in the third round against Rotherham last month.
