According to The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur have been plotting a £15 million raid for Anderlecht youngster Youri Tielemans in the summer, but they are concerned that Atletico Madrid have moved ahead of them in the pecking order for the attacking midfielder’s signature.
Atletico have reportedly already made a move for Tielemans, to try to land the 18-year-old before Spurs even have a chance to make a bid.
Anderlecht are believed to be looking for £24 million for the wonderkid, which Atletico will allegedly match, and it remains to be seen whether Sours chairman Daniel Levy will be willing to pay the Belgian side’s valuation.
Manager Mauricio Pochettino reportedly hopes that Tottenham will fund a bid for Tielemans, as he is said to be a big fan of the youngster’s talents.
Spurs have targeted young players in recent windows, and they have had great success - with the likes of Eric Dier and Dele Alli both turning out to be among the best bargain buys any Premier League side have managed to complete in recent times.
Spurs have been tracking Tielemans for a considerable amount of time, but his performances against them in the Europa League reportedly convinced them to make a move.
Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have also been credited with an interest by The Sun.
