According to German newspaper Bild, Manchester City are offering a huge deal worth £39m for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Granit Xhaka.
City are edging closer to a huge summer, with new manager Pep Guardiola arriving from Bayern Munich at the end of the season, with Manuel Pellegrini set to leave the Etihad Stadium.
Guardiola is expected to overhaul the City squad, and will have a huge transfer kitty at his disposal in a bid to retool the side and replace some of the older players in his squad.
Central midfield is an area that could need some attention, with Yaya Toure almost certainly coming to the end of his career with City - and it seems that Guardiola already has a midfield target in mind.
German newspaper Bild report that Guardiola has told City to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Granit Xhaka, and a bid of €50m (£39m) is being submitted ahead of the summer transfer window.
The 23-year-old star, who joined Gladbach from Basel in 2012, has become a star in the Bundesliga, impressing with his passing range as well as his ability to shoot from long range.
The Swiss international is one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in Europe right now, and his value is bound to shoot up during Euro 2016, where he will be a key player for Switzerland - and City will no doubt want to seal a deal before he has a chance to impress in France.
£39m is a huge fee, but City have money to spend and Bayern boss Guardiola will be familiar with what Xhaka can do, making him a potentially ideal signing for City this summer.
