Nottingham Forest have rewarded Chris Cohen for his recovery from latest injury, by handing him a contract extension.
The club announced via their official website that Cohen's deal has been extended for an extra year, and will be rewarded with a testimonial as it will take his service to the club to 10 years.
Cohen has suffered three serious knee injuries during his career at Forest, and missed more than a year's worth of action with his most recent setback.
He has recently worked his way back into the first team picture, but with Forest in good form, manager Dougie Freedman has been using him sparingly, making just two substitute appearances for a combined eight minutes.
Cohen is 28 and should be entering the prime of his career, but the injuries mean he is rebuilding. It would have been tough for Forest to let him go at the end of this season, and having paid his wages through the last year out injured, it makes sense to take a punt on an extra year to see if the midfielder can repay them on the field.
Prior to his injury he was in excellent form the side, then led by Stuart Pearce, and if Forest can get him back to that form then they will be big winners.
The news of his extension has delighted supporters, who took to twitter to express their joy at seeing the popular midfielder signed up for another year...
