Newcastle United have suffered a setback with the news Aleksandar Mitrovic has suffered a knee ligament injury.
The good news is that the Serbian international could return by March, but manager Steve McClaren said there is no certainty over the timescale for his absence.
McClaren told the club's website: "[Mitrovic] has got a knee injury. We're only bringing players here who can actually train over the next four days, and play in the game on Saturday.
"Mitro has a medial ligament injury, so it could be a couple of weeks - we're hoping not too long."
Newcastle are into a two week break because it is FA Cup weekend and they were eliminated in the third round by Watford.
The squad have flown out to a training camp in Spain, with Mitrovic left behind.
Newcastle are in 18th position in the league and the news regarding Mitrovic makes their 5-1 loss to Chelsea seem even worse, with the striker sustaining the injury in the match.
The summer signing from Anderlecht has been inconsistent since signing, with five Premier League goals in 22 appearances, but considering their desperate battle for survival they need all hands on deck.
Here is a look at how fans reacted to news of Mitrovic's injury...
Does this mean Mitrovic will be "like a new signing" when he returns then? #nufc— The Tynesider (@the_tynesider) February 17, 2016
Don't want to be too harsh on Mitrovic, but if Cisse is fit then his injury isn't a blow. If anything it improves the side. #nufc— Lewis (@lewisa_NUFC) February 17, 2016
Mitrovic is going to be out for a few weeks Perez hopefully take his chance and gets a few winners under his belt. #NUFC— Gary (@GaryToonArmy69) February 17, 2016
Say what you want about Mitrovic but his injury couldn't have come at a worse time #NUFC— Le Squish (@SquashyNUFC) February 17, 2016
Calling it right now, if Mitrovic is out for an extended length of time, We might as well plan for Birmingham away.— Cameron Findlay (@Cameron_NUFC) February 17, 2016
