Jan Vertonghen was pretty excited when Nacer Chadli scored for Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur defender expressed his excitement at Nacer Chadli opened the scoring.

He may be sitting on the sidelines out injured, but Jan Vertonghen was keeping a keen eye on Tottenham's Europa League fixture.

Spurs took on Fiorentina in Italy, and took a crucial advantage through an away goal, with Nacer Chadli scoring a penalty.

The Belgian coolly dispatched the spot kick, and the opener had his international and club teammate Vertonghen excited, exclaiming his delight via Twitter.

The goal was Chadli's fifth goal in his last seven appearances in all competitions, stepping up to take the spot kick with Harry Kane rested on the bench.

Kane came off the bench for the final 15 minutes after Fiorentina had drawn level through a goal from Federico Bernardeschi, but the game ended 1-1.

Mauricio Pochettino made six changes to the side which beat Manchester City at the weekend, and a 1-1 draw is a good result as the side have an away goal, and a home leg in front of their fans to come, unlike last year where they drew at White Hart Lane by the same scoreline and went on to lose 2-0 in Italy.
