Former defender Carlos Cuellar tweets reminiscently about the good times at Aston Villa

Six years ago Villa were still about to play a League Cup final and were flying high in the Premier League table.

Aston Villa look like being down and out in the Premier League this season. The recent 6-0 thrashing against Liverpool leaves them rooted to the bottom of the table and seemingly out of chances regarding their potential survival.

With times hard at Villa right now the club are certainly looking to cheer up their fans. Today they used the Throwback Thursday hashtag on Twitter to highlight a better memory from their past.

The video they shared was of the club's former Spanish defender Carlos Cuellar heading home a speculative header from the edge of the box against Manchester United back in 2010.

The defender himself obviously has fond memories of the goal.

He tweeted this message after seeing he had been the subject of the share:

Cuellar, who now plays in Spain with Almeria, was part of an Aston Villa team that drew that game 1-1 in February 2010. That season the club ended up finishing sixth in the Premier League, runners-up in the League Cup and as semi-finalists in th FA Cup - an incredible season at Villa Park.

Since then it has been a steady decline and the club now find themselves on the brink of relegation to the Football League.
