West Ham travel to Ewood Park on Saturday to take on Blackburn Rovers, and there are some serious issues in Slaven Bilic’s squad.
Injury troubles leave Bilic struggling to name a strong starting XI for the tie, with real problems upfront.
Diafra Sakho, Andy Carroll and Enner Valencia are all out of action through injury, meaning there is only one option that Bilic should call upon to lead the line.
He is clearly slightly off the top of his game, and is not yet at full fitness, and starting against Blackburn would be the perfect choice for Emenike to find his shooting boots.
Rovers are struggling in the Championship right now, and Emenike will face an easier challenge starting in this game, than he ever will starting against a Premier League side.
It does not matter that he needs to find match fitness, and this is the perfect game for the striker to start establishing himself in Bilic’s first-team.
Due to the Hammers form in the Premier League, Emenike is unlikely to be given enough chances to truly flourish, and so he will need to prove himself as a starter in the FA Cup to convince Bilic to give him a proper shot in the Premier League.
