Darren Wassall has provided a positive fitness update on Derby County midfielders Will Hughes and George Thorne at his press conference this afternoon.
Hughes has missed practically the whole of the season so far after damaging his cruciate ligament in the first match of the campaign, while Thorne has been out since the start of February.
However, it seems that the pair could make it back into Derby’s starting line-up in the near future, following Wassall’s comments today.
Hughes’ return will be hugely welcomed by Derby, as the central midfielder is considered one of their finest prospects.
The England youth international has played a key role for the Rams over recent years and would enhance Wassall’s midfield options considerably approaching the business end of the campaign.
Thorne, meanwhile, has racked up 25 appearances for Derby this season and he has scored on three occasions.
The 23-year-old plays a crucial role in the centre of Derby’s midfield, and he will be vital as Wassall looks to guide his side into the Championship play-offs come May.
