Blues fans seem split over whether the Atletico Madrid manager would be a good appointment.
Ever since Jose Mourinho was relieved of his duties at Stamford Bridge in December, rumours about who will replace the Portuguese at Chelsea.
Names such as Pep Guardiola and former Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti had been mentioned, but with those managers set to take over at Manchester City and Bayern Munich respectively in the summer, the pool of top-class managerial talent looked to be drying up.
However, according to reports which broke on Tuesday, it is Atletico Madrid head coach Diego Simeone who is the man that Roman Abramovich will appoint to take over from interim boss Guus Hiddink in the summer.
Simeone is alleged to have already informed Atletico that he will be resigning at the end of the season in order to undertake a new challenge in England.
The La Liga-winning boss would be a bold appointment for the Londoners, whose defensive style under Mourinho had brought criticism from some quarters this season.
The consensus amongst Chelsea fans since the rumours of a potential deal for Simeone to take over has been somewhat split, with some optimistic because of his success in turning Atletico into domestic and European contenders.
Meanwhile, others have expressed concern over Simeone's style and whether he is the right choice for the job, with other managers such as Massimiliano Allegri touted as a better fit.
Here are some of the reactions from Chelsea fans on Twitter to the reports:
Getting Simeone after Jose is like changing a green apple for a red apple. It's still an apple! Quality manager but should have kept Jose...— 100%Chelsea (@100PctChelsea) February 16, 2016
Diego Simeone, eh? Well, we could do worse. A lot, lot worse. If true, strangely sensible move by the Chelsea board— Robert Rea (@robertrea) February 16, 2016
Honestly if we appointed anyone other than Simeone in the summer i'd be disappointed

@BradCFCBassey I myself don't like Simeone, too similar to Mourinho. Love Allegri— Denno (@Denno876er) February 16, 2016
@ralpha060461 Hope these Simeone rumours are true! If so I hope that means Costa etc will stay.— Mike Barrett (@mickeytrueblue) February 16, 2016
Why will Chelsea board actually want Simeone.......we need calm head to take us through this bad period.... Simeone will make things worse— #MR FLEMZEEY CFC (@_flemzeey) February 16, 2016
Hope the Simeone rumours are true. He's hungry, passionate, a great motivator and has proven that he can deliver on a limited budget. #CFC— Ciara T. (@Irishblue78) February 16, 2016
Putting this out there: Diego Simeone - younger, less arrogant José Mourinho. Would be a terrific Chelsea manager.— Überdenken Fußball (@ueberfussball) February 16, 2016
