Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, January signing Oumar Niasse has discussed forming a strike partnership with Romelu Lukaku, claiming that the Belgian forward is playing at a level which anyone would like to be next to.
Niasse said: “I think every striker who plays now could have a partnership with Lukaku because you just have to see him and how he is playing to know that you could have a partnership with him.”
Niasse was signed on transfer deadline day for a £13.5m fee, arriving at Goodison Park from Lokomotiv Moscow, although he has yet to make his debut for the Toffees.
Roberto Martinez is easing him to full fitness before throwing him into action, and there are suggestions that Niasse could make his debut for Everton this weekend in the FA Cup tie against Bournemouth.
Niasse is able to play anywhere along the front line, and he will be looking to build a partnership with Lukaku, and aiding the Belgian forward as he continues to grow into a world class forward.
It is unlikely that Niasse will become more important than Lukaku to Everton’s team, but he could prove good foil for the Belgian, and Niasse believes playing alongside Lukaku will be easy.
Lukaku is playing at such a high level that anyone can excel next to him, and Niasse is hoping to be the player that forms a formidable partnership with the 22-year-old.
