The former Celtic player believes Rangers are back on the up.
Last night the duo also knocked out Scottish Premiership opposition from the cup last night. Rangers defeated Kilmarnock whilst Hibs defeated Edinburgh rival Hearts.
Rangers will now face Dundee or Dumbarton in the next round as they hope to make it to the final of the competition.
One man who is impressed with Rangers right now is Sky Sports pundit and former Celtic hero Charlie Nicholas.
The long-term Old Firm rival has been speaking about Rangers and heralded their fans in the current reawakening under Mark Warburton at Ibrox. He told Sky Sports News today (17/02/2016):
"The thing is now with Rangers. You are talking about a club that has 50,000 home support. So now that they've got momentum and belief under Warburton.
"They are starting to believe that this is the season to get back after this painful three years and the crowd are swinging back."
Nicholas also maintained that Rangers, and Hibs, both belong back in the top-flight of Scottish football and hopefully that is the shape of things to come.
Both teams look like real contenders for promotion back to the top flight - which will hopefully make the Scottish Premiership even more competitive in the years to come.
Rangers will now have their eyes on a promotion and cup double to tie off an excellent season.
