Tottenham will take on Fiorentina away from home in Italy in the first leg of the Europa League round of 32 tie on Thursday evening.
Owen has backed the Serie A outfit to win against Spurs at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in Florence.
“Spurs are right in the title mix and I wonder if they will prioritise the Premier League over this competition given they look to have every chance of making the Champions League next term via a top four PL finish which the two other PL sides cannot?” the former Liverpool striker wrote on Betvictor.com.
“Whether they do or not Fiorentina are a fine side and they will take heart from the fact that they eliminated the north London Club at this same stage 12 months ago before eventually losing to eventual winners Sevilla in the semi-final. I think the Viola will take a lead back to White Hart Lane next month.”
A footnote added: “Michael’s recommendation: Fiorentina to win at 11/8.”
Fiorentina are a strong team, and playing at home is going to give them an advantage. Paulo Sousa’s side are doing well in Serie A at the moment and find themselves third in the league table at the moment.
Tottenham are doing exceptionally well in the Premier League and have a real chance of winning the league title this season.
Head coach Mauricio Pochettino is likely to rotate his squad, which means that he could rest some of his key players to keep them fresh for league matches.
Winning against Fiorentina in Florence will not be easy for Spurs, but the North London outfit can certainly earn a draw.
